Welcome to Urban Canine Pest Detection

We are the unique, organic and sustainable way to find
harmful pests in Georgia and Tennessee.

Urban Canine Pest Detection technicians are registered, bonded and insured in the state of Georgia. Each one of our pest-detecting dogs will spend up 1,000 hours of training in their discipline using the same techniques tested and proven by the University of Florida to produce highly-skilled, nationally-certified pest detection canines. We help pest control companies find bed bug infestations quickly and efficiently—making everyone’s job easier! We’ll be adding rodent abatement and location services in 2021.

A Dog’s Nose Knows!

By the numbers:

  • A dog’s nose has up to 300-million olfactory receptors while humans have about 6 million.

  • The part of a dog’s brain dedicated to analyzing smells is 40 times greater than ours.

  • A study by the Sensory Research Institute of Florida State University found a dog’s ability to detect odors to be 10,000 to 100,000 times that of the average human.

In addition, dogs smell in layers. That could include the siding on your home, the wood beneath the siding, and the beg bugs living there. Our dogs sniff out bed bugs and live eggs without having to tear the search area apart. This makes Urban Canine Pest Detection the perfect partner in protecting your home against the destruction these pests can cause.

A Human's Olfactory Receptors in Millions

A Dog's Olfactory Receptors in Millions

Our dogs are nationally trained, tested and certified through the National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association (NESDCA) before we put them in the field.

We take the health and care of our dogs seriously. We are subject to inspection by the Department of Agriculture and have veterinarians on call 24/7.

Our dogs are very special to us. They are first and foremost our pets. When they aren’t on the job, they enjoy life on our farm. When a working dog retires, they stay here with us at home.
